Look of the Week.

Since I have been bad about keeping up with posts series like my "Book of the Week," due to lack of time; I thought I would start a new one that takes a little less time for Fridays. No commentary just images.. I'm going to call if "Look of the Week" which will feature a look I admire and felt the need to share. So heres to starting off my new post series and the weekend. Woohoo- Happy Freakin Friday!!!

DIY: Faux Bamboo Chair.

For the past few months everything bamboo has been haunting me lately due to my current obsession with finding a faux bamboo chair to redo for my room. This is why I have so many inspiration pics below. Apparently I'm not the only one who is loving this bamboo trend for your home.

Anyways after numerous trips to local thrift stores and a weekly search on eBay and etsy, I finally found my prize last Sunday at Angel Street Thrift Store in Chelsea for the lovely price of $30! Which makes it all worth my hard work hunting. A can of gold spray paint ($7), a yard of fabric from mood ($25), a bag of sponges from home depot ($10) and a hot glue gun...I transformed this dingy thrift store find into a chic statement piece for my room. Easy how-to below...

Have a thrifty Thursday!

Since spray painting your chair is a no brainer... (It literally took me a total of 30 minutes to do 2 coats of paint)... Instead I explained how to make a homemade seat cushion since I was not a fan of the before wicker base. Plus I had to use fabric, It completes the look and gives it style.

HOW TO MAKE A HOME-MADE SEAT CUSHION:
1) Trim and arrange the sponges so that they cover the entire chair. Glue down with hot glue.

2) Cover with your old towel so that the surface is smooth and even before adding the fabric.
Glue underneath the seat.

3) Measure out fabric over seat and begin to glue down underneath the wicker seat. Don't trim to fit the corners before hand, instead cut as you wrap around the seat.
Simple as that!

Sunny Weather Essentials.

Summer Weather Essentials.

My Baggu in Blue-- It's so lightweight and perfect for the city.

Monogram Me.

As you have probably have already figured out by now... I love myself a good monogram. It's personal, preppy and made only for you. I would monogram everything I own and in my house if I wasn't scared that it would make people just feel uncomfortable and weird around me...So I'm going to hold off until I at least have a family and then I will just go wild decorating everything I buy for my future kiddies. I'm pretty sure I will have them decked out with monograms from their hair bows to their socks. God bless them on their first day of school. Ha... But since that isn't at least for 5 more years from now, here are some of my favorite monogramed things and a little inspiration I found online.

HAPPY MONDAY!!!

Trend Alert: Printed Pumps.

Colorful prints are always in for spring and summer but this year designers have gone crazy with the print trend--all the way down to our feet! But Im not mad about it at all. I love the idea of making my shoes the focal point of my outfit by pairing printed pumps with my basics for an easy but stylish look. They would be perfect to throw on before work on a morning when your running late and not sure what to wear.
Another benefit to this trend: Instead of updating your look with a handbag that no one will see under your desk at work all day--- you can get your trend on by flaunting a pair of pretty printed pumps around the office. Of course my favs are a little bit too pricey so I found more affordable options for the broke fashionista like myself. With all the different prints I've seen online, there is definitely a pair for everyone to express their own personal style. Now get to shopping so I can pay my bills!

NYC Thrift Store Find in Hell's Kitchen.

I stumbled upon another treasure chest of jewels and vintage home goods after work a few weeks ago in Hell's Kitchen with reasonably priced merchandise. Not sure of the name? It was very easy to shop and very thrifty inside. This place is definitely a hit or miss kind of store but all it takes is being there at the right time and having something in mind you are shopping for. Interesting Fact: I asked the owner what the store was back in the day and he said it was an underground bar during prohibition. Kinda cool! So if you are in the area (9th Ave and 42nd St), I suggest you stop in and hunt out some treasures.
Happy Thrifting!

Pictures From Inside the Store:
I'm Really regretting not buying this broach. I love the quirky color combination and the fabric button for a little bit of texture. This would be so cute on a long gold chain as a necklace.

Huge Selection of vintage clip on earrings. Most costume jewelry was priced at $10.

Love the gold mirror for $50.00 & the gold base lamp on the top left for $30.00.

Lots of well-priced glassware that you could buy individually or as a set.

MY PURCHASES:
Found these earrings for $15, originally $350 as you can see from the price-tag.

All pieces above were $10 each. Gotta love some vintage rings!
