New York City Girl.

It is so crazy to me that in one month I will celebrate my 3 year anniversary as a "New York City Girl."  WOW, how time fly's.  It feels like just yesterday I was dropped off in LES fresh out of college with 2 suitcases and the rest to figure out.  What was I thinking? I still look back to that day and picture myself sitting on the sidewalk looking so lost and out of place with my suitcases larger than me trying to get a hold of my college girlfriend and roomie-to-be, Kristen Malone who I was suppose to be staying with until we found an apartment together.

I could obviously go on forever telling stories about all of the life lessons New York City has taught me and how much I have grown as a person, but I won't bored you with that. Instead, I thought I would post a few images that I found on pinterest that spoke to me(inspirational and funny) about my amazing experience I've had these past 3 years becoming a "New York City Girl." Move over Manhattan!

NYC Thrift Store Find in Hell's Kitchen.

I stumbled upon another treasure chest of jewels and vintage home goods after work a few weeks ago in Hell's Kitchen with reasonably priced merchandise. Not sure of the name? It was very easy to shop and very thrifty inside. This place is definitely a hit or miss kind of store but all it takes is being there at the right time and having something in mind you are shopping for. Interesting Fact: I asked the owner what the store was back in the day and he said it was an underground bar during prohibition. Kinda cool! So if you are in the area (9th Ave and 42nd St), I suggest you stop in and hunt out some treasures.

I'm Really regretting not buying this broach. I love the quirky color combination and the fabric button for a little bit of texture. This would be so cute on a long gold chain as a necklace.

Huge Selection of vintage clip on earrings. Most costume jewelry was priced at $10.

Love the gold mirror for $50.00 & the gold base lamp on the top left for $30.00.

Lots of well-priced glassware that you could buy individually or as a set.

NYC Furniture Finds.

As you already know from my earlier post... I love thrift shopping and my favorite thing to thrift shop for besides jewelry is-- furniture. The fun part about furniture is that it's usually a project. I can always spot a good piece when as soon as I see it, I can imagine it's potential. Below are a few things that caught my eye a few weeks ago at Housing Works and Angel Street Thrift Shop in Chelsea while I was browsing in search of a new chair for my room. If I only had an apartment to furnish-- I could have loaded up a whole truckload in one shopping trip.

HOUSING WORKS THRIFT STORE (CHELSEA) FINDS:

Vintage Poster - $50

(Love the colors and it was just the right size to fill a good size wall in a kitchen.)

Vintage Bowling Chair - $180

(Loving the tefted leather and nail-head trim!)

New Bamboo Backed Chair - $ ??

They were unboxing this new chair the day I was there. I'm going back today to see if its still there.

Vintage Love Seat - SOLD!

(Unfortunately this was already bought but I'm obsessed and its the perfect size for a bedroom.)

Vintage Coffe Table - $100

(Also, loving its petite size, gold legs and trim.)

Vintage Lamp - $50

(I'm so mad I didnt buy this. It was gone when I went back to look for it. Look closely at the bottom geometric trim detail-- Wow, this lamp would be amazing with a little bit of paint to give it a mod look.)

Had to post this just because I keep telling my friends to look at it. Makes me laugh, and its literally point on based from a New Yorkers perspective. I can finally relate after living here for over a year. The only thing I would add in is Outlet Malls in the Midwest.

Only In NYC.

I was blown away a year ago when I first learned about Seamless Web, Fresh Direct and Soap.com--- But I think this one takes shopping to another level. Only in NYC-- can you literally do all your shopping online while you are at work--because what New Yorker really has time to shop anyways? I personally like to go to a department store and test products before I buy them but if I needed to replace one of my staple cosmetics I just might try this service out. It has to be better than going to the actual store and trying on the products that every tourist has dipped their fingers in after riding on the 6 train. Yuck! ----But I promise I will still continue to stop into Sephora and be that girl who asks to try on every shade of Nars blush... Because I don't know one girl who doesn't like make-up; and lets be honest, Sephora is basically like the candy land of beauty products...Wow, I love being a girl!
