DIY: Instagram Photo Magnets.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

1) Paper Cutter or Scissors.

2) Inkjet Magnetic Printing Paper (Options below):

- Staples Inkjet Magnetic Printing Paper - $9 (4 pack)

- Avery Magnetic Printing Paper - $12.50 (5 pack)

3) Word, Excel or some computer program to layout and resize your images.

4) Your favorite Instagram pics.

5) Printer.

HOW TO:

-Drag images into Word Doc (6 per page)

-Resize Margins to .25 on right and left & .1 on top and bottom

-Resize images to: 3.5" x 3.5"

-Print.

-Now trim photos with paper cutter or scissors to desired size and shape. (I kept some corners square and others round just to mix it up a bit.)

-Now place on refrigerator door and be inspired by your own photography and enjoy seeing your instagram pics somewhere other than your phone.

New York City Girl.

It is so crazy to me that in one month I will celebrate my 3 year anniversary as a "New York City Girl."  WOW, how time fly's.  It feels like just yesterday I was dropped off in LES fresh out of college with 2 suitcases and the rest to figure out.  What was I thinking? I still look back to that day and picture myself sitting on the sidewalk looking so lost and out of place with my suitcases larger than me trying to get a hold of my college girlfriend and roomie-to-be, Kristen Malone who I was suppose to be staying with until we found an apartment together.

I could obviously go on forever telling stories about all of the life lessons New York City has taught me and how much I have grown as a person, but I won't bored you with that. Instead, I thought I would post a few images that I found on pinterest that spoke to me(inspirational and funny) about my amazing experience I've had these past 3 years becoming a "New York City Girl." Move over Manhattan!

Book of the Week: Kate Spade: "Things We Love."

With all my excitement about Kate Spades new book release, "Things We Love."  I made it a mission of mine hunt down a copy in NYC a few weeks ago- in fact I purchased the last copy in store at Barnes and Noble in Union Square.

Yes, I could have waited and ordered it online; but when I make up my mind that I want something; You better believe I figured out a way to get it. Plus, I knew I couldn't wait a week for it to ship. (If your smart however, you will purchase it online and save yourself a trip to the ​bookstore and $10.)

Talk about pages and pages of charming and colorful inspiration! From funny and quirky quotes, bold patterns, beautiful type, and images that could make anyone happy. I could seriously go to town with a pair of scissors to the pages of this book, just so I could frame every page and hang them all on my wall. Luckily the beautifully done gold page edges are keeping me away-- for the time being that is. ;)

Eggs in Chili Clouds: We like to think of this one as a reconstructed egg. You separate the yolks from the whites and whip the whites into chili clouds with parmesan, chili pepper, and any other herbs you like. Return the yolk to the white and bake! (Recipe and photo: Kitchen Tested)

Sweet Potato and Eggs Breakfast Hash: For a more autumnal take on eggs, pair them with  sweet potatoes, applewood smoked bacon, and thyme. (Recipe and photo: Snixy Kitchen)

The Fizzy Bunny Mimosa

makes one drink

1 part chilled carrot juice

1 part fresh squeezed orange juice

3-4 parts champagne or prosecco sparkling wine — (sub ginger ale or fizzy cider for virgin bunnies)

dash of cayenne

garnish: orange slices

Mix and serve in chilled champagne glasses.

Book of the Week.

Almost 4 years ago I discovered Jonathan Adler during a summer I spent in Los Angeles while interning at a fashion PR company. After work one day, I stumbled upon his store on Melrose while exploring with my new friend at the time, and who is now my current roommate in NYC, Maggie. (Crazy I know!) I remember walking into his store and thinking to myself  "My Nana would pee her pants over everything in here!"





Jonathan Adler: "100 Ways to Happy Chic Your Life." - $25

Quirky, colorful, witty, happy, chic, hip, understandable but never understated, a little bit mod, a little bit prep, are just a few words to describe the man himself Johnathan Adler or as I like to call him the "geometric genius." (I've referred to him as this before in an earlier post, here.  Ironically, I wouldn't consider my personal style as mod or hip... Preppy and colorful, def yes... But something about the way JA mixes all of these different elements and themes, then adding his own little quirkiness to it--- just nails it. 

Whether you consider this colorful world a portion of your style or not, something about his vision is hard not to like. All the happiness JA is exuding or unpredictable objects and maybe? Well whatever it is, I'm hooked. In fact, if I came back in a second life as a man, I would want to come back as Jonathan Adler or Mickey Drexler (thats a hard one to pick.) Anyways, enough about my weird fantasies.

Below you can see a sneak peak of the books content which is a collection of tips for leading a vibrant, "Happy Chic life" full of grand parties, fabulous friends, kitschy movies, exotic vacations and of course the vibrant decor style that has made Jonathan Adler famous. 

Let's just say that I purchased it only a few days ago over the weekend in Dallas, where he also has a new storefront, and I can't put it down! It's the perfect read after work to exercise the creative side of your brain and would make the perfect Christmas present for almost anyone who needs a little Happy or Chic in their lives--- and don't we all!

Window Stalking: Spring Street in Soho.

One of my favorite things about living in Soho (besides the architecture and shopping) is being able to watch the store windows transform from season to season. (It's a lot like walking through a fashion blog every morning in route to the train.) With the holidays right around the corner, visual merchandise teams are on their A game right now. Enjoy the pictures of some of my favorite windows right now downtown but be sure to stay tuned after Thanksgiving when I cover all the windows decorated for Christmas at the major department stores. They are a real inspiring treat to witness!
