Book of the Week: Kate Spade: "Things We Love."

With all my excitement about Kate Spades new book release, "Things We Love."  I made it a mission of mine hunt down a copy in NYC a few weeks ago- in fact I purchased the last copy in store at Barnes and Noble in Union Square.

Yes, I could have waited and ordered it online; but when I make up my mind that I want something; You better believe I figured out a way to get it. Plus, I knew I couldn't wait a week for it to ship. (If your smart however, you will purchase it online and save yourself a trip to the ​bookstore and $10.)

Talk about pages and pages of charming and colorful inspiration! From funny and quirky quotes, bold patterns, beautiful type, and images that could make anyone happy. I could seriously go to town with a pair of scissors to the pages of this book, just so I could frame every page and hang them all on my wall. Luckily the beautifully done gold page edges are keeping me away-- for the time being that is. ;)

Book Magazine of the Week: Lonny Magazine

Check out this amazing decor online magazine from the old team at Domino Magazine. (If you don't remember Domino, it was my favorite magazine of all times- I was so sad when I heard it was no longer going to be printed.) The content is amazing and its really cool that you can click on pages and it will link to where you can purchase the item (just like a blog). I'm anxious to see if the whole online magazine community will make it!  Oh- and while we are on the subject of home.. Check out the chandalier I bought for my new room on Gilt Groupe today! I've been slacking on my "Book of the Week" post recently due to being inspired by so many other things right now. I have actually been meaning to do a post on the "Big Ass Book of Home Decor" since I was given it as a gift from my friend Maggie on my birthday. Now that I am finally moving out of my tiny apartment to a more livable space in the upper east side with 3 other girls, I am so ecstatic about decorating my room and our new home! My favorite DIY projects are without a doubt making/redoing anything I can get my hands on to use as decoration for your house-- not to mention, I love coming home to a well decorated space.  Considering that I am on a budget and need a creative project after work (for all the free time I don't have-joke), I thought I would share a few pages of the book I've been anxiously waiting to dissect...

To sum up the greatness of this book: the bottom line is---You can decorate your whole apartment for literally nothing. Tables, frames, plant holders, wall hangings, chairs, headboards, lampshades; you name it, you can make it with the simplest and cheapest materials. And no worries there is even an IKEA ideas section for all of us New Yorkers trying to save money furnishing our overpriced apartment. So if you have a bunch of IKEA furniture from college you don’t know what to do with or you live in NYC and want to put a few personal touches on your standard IKEA dresser, that you and all your girlfriends have… buy this book. You won’t regret it- And if you do… at least it looks good on a shelf. Happy weekend!

Continuing my magazine of the week trend instead of book of the week, its time I let you in on my favorite magazine of all times: People Style Watch.


Think of it as your direct mail catalog for budget friendly shopping. Since those no longer exist and everything has gone online-- with this magazine it will keep you up to date on new affordable trends with an experts advice. I should actually work for this magazine because finding nice inexpensive trends is what I do...Or I like to call it, just being a professional shopper. Someone should really make this a profession-seriously? But with that being said, the staff who works for the magazine are pretty great at what they do. They tell you when the items hit stores, where to buy them and even how to wear the trend this season. They even cover affordable hair and face products and accessories like jewelry, bags, shoes, etc.  What else could you ask for? So flip through an issue next time your waiting to check out at the grocery store. I bet you $10 dollars you'll buy it and then read through it at least twice. Happy Thursday!

Book Magazine of the Week.

Thought I would change is up a little bit this week and post one of my favorite magazines that I subscribe to:  Do it Yourself by Better Homes and Gardens.  

This Magazine only features 4 issues a year but they are filled with so many great projects and ideas on how to organize, match colors, etc... I actually filed mine into a binder and made a book to reference later.  I would post more pics from inside the pages but I can seem to find any online that are as great as looking through the actual issue.  Instead here are some really great pillows I saw in a window on Park Ave two Sunday's ago I've been meaning to blog about. I wrote down the name from the tag and looked them up online when I got home. Im definitely buying these pillows for my great grandmothers couch I had re-done last year.  I think they will give it an even more vintage looking flare and I love how it adds a personal touch.

I found this amazing book at A.L.Friedman today after work. Not that I need to be spending my money on books right now, but after flipping through the first 30 pages and loving every design-- I broke down and bought it! The traditional, clean, and vintage feel of every design throughout the book is my style to a T. Five stars from me!

So I did some Christmas Shopping tonight at Henri Bendels and discovered that they sell coffee table books there.  Of course they do.... because Bendels is so awesome and full of overpriced wonderful things! In fact, you might even walk out of there with a $50 tree ornament that will be seen for one week out of the year.  Thankfully I was distracted by Nina Garcia's Look Book: What to Wear for Every Occasion that I have been wanting to check out since it was released. I was only able to flip through it for about 5 minutes because I had like 5 others stores to go to, but from what I read and looked at, its a sure buy.  It has some really great chapters on advice and the illustration is adorable. I actually think the illustration was done by the same artist that does the the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book every year.

NEWS FLASH to me....
Barney's Department Store has a whole floor dedicated to books?!? (So this just goes to prove that I have been living under a stupid rock after all.) 
And I thought a trip to Barney's was dangerous before?..... This knocks it up to a whole new level.
In fact, Im going to dedicate my trip to the book floor at Barney's in order to check out Kate Spade's new book:  Things We Love
.......Oh the sweet smell of freshly printed books and a burnt hole in my pocket! :)

Miss Nicole Richie!!!!
    Yes, I went to yet another celebrity book signing in New York with my two roomies tonight, but this time I didn't make the trip just for the signing.  I love, love, Nicole Richie don't get me wrong (shes probably in my top 5 celebs)...But she's obviously no Mary-Kate and Ashley in my eyes.  However, I will say that she was so sweet and lovely in person so it was well worth paying $20 for her book (that I will probably never read considering it has no pictures) just because we were able to take a picture with her and she signed the book to each person with their name-- Very considerate since there were probably 200-300 people in line. I probably won't get around to reading her new novel "Priceless" anytime soon, but her last book was a best seller so Im sure its worth checking out!
